台湾台東のアーティスト・イン・レジデンスとアートフェスティバルとの交換プログラムを2018年度からおこなっています。今年度は、台湾から2020年1月20日より2月27日までユーシン・ワンを招聘しました。ユーシン・ワンは、30年のキャリアをもつ陶芸家であり、先住民文化研究者であるアーティストです。「自分の生きる場所で、その場所でとれる素材をつかってものをつくる」ことの重要性を信条に制作活動を行っています。滞在期間中には北海道の土にこだわり制作をしている陶芸家の方々を訪ねました。同時に、北海道の先史にあった土器群の存在がアイヌの生活の中にみあたらないことに着目し、リサーチを行いました。
アーティスト・イン・レジデンスの最終段階として、北海道の陶芸家の方々にご協力いただいて制作した新作の展示を行います。

【2020 出発・点】創作実験

この展示は「2020 出発・点 創作実験」というテーマで、女性の視線から土地、人、文化伝承について取り組む試みです。近年、北海道のアイヌ民族は、私の母方の民族のシラヤ族と同様、国から民族として認めてもらうべく活動をしています。私は2018年7月に北海道大学アイヌ・先住民研究センターのお招きを受け、研究を発表する機会をいただいたことがあり、その際、北海道のアイヌ文化をより一層学ぶ機会に恵まれ、今回のアーティスト・イン・レジデンスによる滞在で、さらに深い交流が行えればと考えました。全ての生命は神聖な母なる大地から来ており、女性とものづくりに携わる人は常に伝統文化や自然の資源に関する知識の伝承者だと思っております。それについては、様々な民族の言い伝え、物質文化やその民族の知識において、細やかな文化的脈絡や痕跡が見られます。この度のさっぽろ天神山アートスタジオを拠点にした滞在においては、北海道で生活するアイヌ民族と土地資源の関連、粘土(clay)の使用に関する歴史的記録、言い伝えや現在の状況について考察し、現地の陶器制作や陶器教室なども訪問し、北海道での粘土の採取や運用についての理解を深めたいと考えております。

【2020出發・點】創作實驗計畫。札幌天神山駐村創作與策展概念

本展覽「2020出發・點創作實驗」試圖以女性觀點來述說土地、人與文化傳承的議題。近年來北海道的Ainu人努力的尋求正名,就如同我母親的族群西拉雅人一樣。我曾經於2018年7月應北海道大學先住民研究中心的邀約曾發表過相關論述,讓我對北海道Ainu文化有更近一步的認識,也想藉這次駐村有更深入的交流。我相信所有的生命都是來自神聖的母親大地,一直以來女性與手作者扮演着傳統文化與自然資源知識的傳遞者,從各族群的口傳故事、物質文化與民族知識中,可以看見細膩的文化脈絡與痕跡;這次駐村規劃想要探討生活在北海道的Ainu人與土地資源的關聯,探討歷史中使用黏土礦(clay)的記錄、口傳故事與當代的狀況,還有拜訪當地製作陶器的陶藝工作室,了解在地黏土礦的採集、運用的範圍。駐村的所有記錄會以文件展的模式呈現,並且以在地黏土實驗創作,紀錄駐村期間的省思。

“2020 Departure Project” of Residency and Curation plan at Tenjinyama Art Studio

This residency plan and exhibition “2020 Departure Project” will look into the female’s view of land, people and cultural heritage. Recent years, the Hokkaido indigenous Ainu people making an great effort to restore identity for official recognition, as well as the Siraya people of Taiwan, that my mother is the descendant of Siraya. In July 2019, I was invited to Hokkaido University Center for Ainu and Indigenous Studies for a speech on this related issue that inspire my research of Ainu culture and crafts. So that I eager for more opportunity of further understanding if I could gained this winter residency program. I believe that all life origin from the great mother earth. Female as well as artisan play the role that conduct traditional knowledge and culture from the oral history, natural resource, material culture that you can see the delicate cultural context and traces. There are two vital plans of my winter residency program –Look into the relationship of Ainu people to the clay/nature resources, collecting the oral stories of clay that related. Furthermore, the way of contemporary Ainu clay uses, I will visit the Hakkaido pottery studio, recording the usage and application of local clay. Curate method: Archives exhibition This exhibition shall present all the files, ideas, and artwork in residency periods or particular aspects of contemporary Ainu people’s life through photographs, clay experimental work, and other documents.

ユーシン・ワン(王昱⼼、Wang, Yu Hsin、民族名:Tanivu Tapari )

国立東華大学・原住民民族学院副教授、デザイン博士(オーストラリア)、陶芸家。 プユマ族とシラヤ族のルーツを持つ台湾の先住民族(台湾原住民族)であるユーシン・ワンは、子どものころから創作や自然由来の素材に興味を持ち、大学では創作手段として陶芸を専攻する。1994年に指導教官の劉鎮洲先生の引率により、日本の陶芸を見たことがきっかけで陶芸創作に携わることを決意する。イギリスで修士課程を修了してからプロダクト・デザインの仕事をし、1998年からは台湾原住民族の伝統工芸研究、工芸デザイン、陶芸分野での教育などに携わっている。 近年では、アーティストとして個展やグループ展を行うほか、台湾原住民族の現代アート作家による展示を手掛けるキュレーターとしても活躍している。

王昱心(Wang, Yu Hsin、族名:Tanivu Tapari)

國立東華大學原住民民族學院副教授,為澳洲設計博士,同時是位陶藝創作者。王昱心出自台灣東海岸的卑南族與西拉雅族的台灣原住民族,從小對藝術創作和自然媒材非常有興趣,升大學時決定專攻陶藝當作創作媒材並且接受專業的訓練;1994年與導師劉鎮洲先生拜訪日本陶藝後,從此立下心願從事陶藝創作。英國碩士畢業後在曾業界擔任產品設計師,1998年代開始進行原住民傳統工藝研究、工藝設計、製陶教育訓練等工作。近年來作為一個創作者舉辦個展及聯展之外,還作為台灣原住民族當代藝術多場展覽的策展人。

Wang, YuHsin (Tanivu Tapari) is an associate professor in the Indigenous Art of National Dong Hwa University, Taiwan, who earned her doctor of design degree from Swinburne University of Technology, Australia in 2006. Dr. Wang is a ceramicist as well as a product designer for more than 20 years. Since 90’she started focus on indigenous crafts and art research, education training and handicrafts industries. Dr. Wang co-operates an indigenous art residency program from Council of Indigenous Peoples from 2009 to 2011, and the jury of Pulima Art Award from 2012, which has devoted to assistant Taiwan indigenous artisans and artists to access internal and international art markets for their works. She held three solo shows in the topic of “Representation: Series of Myths Decoder” in 2011 to 2013. Recently, she curated the first indigenous ceramics exhibition “Serendipity”with 19 artists in the Yingge Ceramics Museum in Taipei, it was a tour exhibition from 2017 to 2018. Lately she curated “Strength from the Mountain and the Sea– Ceoa.Pusu.Wawa“ (land, root, ocean)−the Indigenous Art Exhibition at the National Chiang Kai-shek Memorial Hall in Taipei, based on the ancient Austronesian terms that aims to initiate a dialogue between ancient wisdom and contemporary society so that the primal life memories can be recalled when facing injustice in history.
