ステートメント/Artist Statement
滞在中、私は天神山公園内の自然生態系と人間活動の両方から廃棄された様々な廃棄物を収集しました。収集した遺物は、その後、タイポグラフィーのグリフカタログとしてデザインされました。これらの文字は、物理的・デジタルなマークメイキングシステムにおける「ピクセル」として機能し、相互作用するアート作品のシリーズを制作するために使用されています。この取り組みは、天神山の無視されがちな細部と向き合い、地元の環境と私自身の内面に存在する多様な感情を構成する小さな要素を強調するアイデアから生まれました。
スタジオ周辺の繁茂する緑と成長の豊かさに圧倒され、ここで制作したアートワークは個人的な内面の混乱から生まれたものです。展示されている作品は、旅行用カメラで公園の隅々を歩き回りながら撮影した写真と動画シリーズから着想を得ています。ドキュメンタリー的な画像を、沸き立つ心と直感を通じて再加工するこのプロセスは、私（そしておそらくあなたも？）の最近の感情の荷物を、暑い夏に例えることができます。秋と冬が空気を冷やして私たちを吹き飛ばす前に、すべてのものが最終的なクロロフィルの大団円に向けて準備を整えているような状態です。
緑の夏が永遠に続けばいいのに。
During my time at the residency, I collected various debris discarded by the local eco-system inside of Tenjinyama Park, from both nature and human-activity. The artifacts I collected were then designed into a catalog of typographic glyphs. The resulting glyphs function as “pixels” for a physical and digital mark-making system which is employed to create a body of reciprocal artworks. The effort here was driven by the idea to intently engage with the over-looked minutiae of Tenjinyama and to elevate the diminutive elements that create the bigger picture of the local environment and various feelings within myself.
Overwhelmed by teeming greenery and the abundance of growth around the residency, the artworks I created here are a result of personal inner turmoil. The works on view are inspired by a series of photographs and videos I took on my travel camera while trawling through every corner of the park. This re-processing of documentarian images through a seething mind and gut instinct is much like my and (maybe your?) emotional baggage of late a hot Summer, where everything is gearing up for a final chlorophyll crescendo before fall and winter whiffs us away in its airy chill.
I really wish green summers were endless.
