■ 展覧会 Works on paper unfolding over time について

アリアナ・ルカはさっぽろ天神山アートスタジオでの2ヶ月間の滞在をとおして、雪降る札幌の環境やスタジオ周辺地域からインスピレーションを得た一連の紙作品を制作しています。制作にさいしては、まず周囲環境からインスピレーションとイメージを採集し、これを抽象的な水彩画やインク画に落とし込んでいきます。特に今回のプロジェクトでは、手持ちスキャナーを用いて歪んだデジタル・コラージュを作るなど、制作プロセスをかく乱させるための物理的・物質的な方法を探ることで新たな形式やアイディアを生み出そうとしています。そうして生まれたスキャン画像とコラージュは、絵画作品のインスピレーションとして活用され、次々と展開する一連の抽象的構図へ転じていきます。

About the Exhibition:

While staying at Tenjinyama Art Studio for 2 months, Ariana is creating a series of iterative works on paper which take inspiration from the surrounding area and snowy environment of Sapporo. Ariana’s project involves collecting inspiration and imagery from the environment and translating it into abstract watercolour and ink paintings. This project also explores physical methods of disrupting the art-making process to generate new forms and ideas, such as using a handheld scanner to create distorted digital collages. These scans and collages are then used as inspiration for further paintings, leading to a continually evolving series of abstract compositions.

Ariana Luca is a visual artist from Melbourne, Australia. Her work explores the process of constructing an abstract composition and the relationship between chance and control in non-representational art-making. Ariana has exhibited her work in group and solo exhibitions in Australia at galleries in Melbourne, Geelong and Tasmania.
