梅田哲也

建物の構造や周囲の環境から着想を得たインスタレーションを制作し、美術館や博物館における展覧会のほかに、オルタナティブな空間や屋外において、サイトスペシフィックに作品を展開する。パフォーマンスでは、普段行き慣れない場所へ観客を招待するツアー作品や、劇場の機能にフォーカスした舞台作品、中心点をもたない合唱のプロジェクトなどを国内外で発表。また先鋭的な音響のアーティストとしても国際的に知られている。近年のパフォーマンス作品に『Composite: Variations / Circle』（Kunstenfestivaldesarts 2017、ブリュッセル、ベルギー）、『INTERNSHIP』（国立アジア文化殿堂、光州、韓国、2016年／TPAM 2018、 KAAT神奈川芸術劇場ホール）など。近年の展覧会に「さいたま国際芸術祭2020」（旧大宮区役所）、「東海岸大地藝術節」（台東、台湾、2018年）、個展では「梅田哲也 イン 別府『Ｏ滞』」（別府、2020-2021年）、『うたの起源』（福岡市美術館、福岡、2019-2020年）、『See, Look at Observed what Watching is』（Portland Institute for Contemporary Art、ポートランド、米国、2016年） がある。

【なぜ、さっぽろ天神山アートスタジオがdocument fifteenに？- Jatiwangi Art Factoryとの交換プログラム・ストーリー – 】

2021年から交換プログラム(AIR）をスタートしたJatiwangi Art Factoryが、documenta fifteen（カッセル、ドイツ）にlumbung membersの一員となり参加しています。ドクメンタでは共同プロジェクトとして取り組んでいるterra cotta embassyのアイデアを拡張させて、ほかのコレクティブと協働しながら日々、生活とプレゼンテーションを重ねていると聞きます。

7月のパフォーマンス・ウィークにterra cotta embassyプロジェクト・パートナーであるさっぽろ天神山アートスタジオは、将来インドネシア現地にできるかもしれないsapporo-snow embassyに灯す照明を制作してもらおうと構想していた梅田 哲也さんに、Jatiwangi Art Factoryのプロジェクトの進捗をみたり、直接ミーティングしてもらうべくドクメンタにいってもらう計画をつくりました。現地でterra cotta embassy weekが開催されることになり、天神山アートスタジオ以外のパートナーもそこに加わり、さっぽろ天神山アートスタジオからは、梅田哲也さんが加わって面白い展開になりそうです。

2021年度にオンラインで招聘したJatiwangi Art Factoryのアリーが準備段階の5月からカッセル現地に滞在しています。ドクメンタで、さらに有意義な国際的なAIRネットワークを紡いでいくといっています。期待しています。

＊日本からヨーロッパへの渡航はかなり楽になっていますが、日本への帰国時にPCR検査の陰性証明が必要となり、この段階がクリアできず現地での足止めを余儀なくされる人が多くでているとのことです。高額な経済的な負担もともないますので慎重にならざるをえませんね・・・。

Artist Tetsuya Umeda is having his performance-workshop in Kassel on July 16th, 2022, 15:00-18:00 (German Time Zone). 
And it’s a part of many-months-long Tenjinyama x Jatiwangi exchange!  

 

Why Tenjinyama Art Studio is at documenta fifteen? — Our Exchange Story with Jatiwangi Art Factory —

Jatiwangi Art Factory, with whom Tenjinyama Art Studio has been having an exchange program since 2021, is now a part of lumbung members at documenta fifteen (Kassel, Germany). They are building up the layers of life and presentation through collaboration with other collectives, expanding the idea of “terra cotta embassy,” the collaborative project.

For July’s performance week, as a project partner at terra cotta embassy,  Tenjinyama Art Studio made a plan to send artist Tetsuya Umeda to Kassel. There, Umeda is expected to view the progress of the Jatiwangi’s projects and to have meetings. On a broader scale, we’re inviting him to make lightings for “sapporo-snow embassy,” prospectively to be built in Indonesia in the future.  At the “terra cotta embassy week” in Kassel, Tenjinyama with Umeda as our representative, will be holding somethings with other project partners.

Arie Syarifuddin from Jatiwangi Art Factory, who was an invited artist for our 2021 exchange program, has been in Kassel for preparation and presentation since this past May. We are excited for Arie, at documenta, to builde the international network of Artist Residencies that is more meaningful than ever.

Tetsuya Umeda, Artist　梅田哲也

Umeda produces installations that are inspired by and incorporate existing elements found in the environment and circumstances surrounding the exhibition space including its architectural structure. In addition to exhibitions in museums and art institutions, he has produced numerous site-specific works based on the context of both urban spaces and natural environment. Performance works are presented in Japan and abroad, such as tours inviting the audience to unfamiliar places, stage works focusing on functions found in theaters and chorus projects without center point. He is also globally renowned as a leading artist in the field of sound art. Recently he has presented performance works such as “Composite: Variations / Circle” (Kunstenfestivaldesarts 2017, Brussels, Belgium), “INTERNSHIP” (Asia Cultural Center, Gwangju, South Korea, 2016 / TPAM 2018, KAAT Kanagawa Arts Theater, Yokohama, Japan), and has taken part in numerous international exhibitions including Saitama Triennale2020 and Taiwan East Coast Land Arts Festival (Taichung, 2018). His recent solo exhibitions are “UMEDA Tetsuya in BEPPU 0 Tai” (Oita, Japan, 2020-2021) “On the origin of voices” (Fukuoka Art Museum, Fukuoka, Japan, 2019-2020) and “See, Look at Observed what Watching is” (Portland Institute for Contemporary Art, Portland, USA, 2016).
