ステートメント/Artist Statement
札幌の視覚的なパターンや日常のディテールを探求するプロジェクト。写真、印刷物、出版物を通して記録し、すべての制作工程を現地で、地域に根ざした方法と素材で完成させました。
An exploration of Sapporo’s visual patterns and everyday details—traced through photography, print, and publication, and created entirely on-site using local methods and materials.
私の札幌での3週間の滞在中、毎日街を歩きながら、観察し、収集し、そして視覚的なパターンを写真に収めてきました。人を直接撮ることはあまりありませんが、人の存在は常に感じられます。表面の摩耗、日々の習慣の痕跡、整えられた物や置き去りにされた物の中にそれは表れています。特に、街のあちこちに見られるパイロン（コーン）は、私の作品の中で人の代わりのような存在になっています。
スウェーデンでは、印刷は高度にデジタル化された社会の中で複雑で専門的なプロセスになっています。その一方で、日本では印刷が今も身近で日常的に利用されていることに強い魅力を感じました。スピーディーな印刷所やコンビニのカラープリンター、そして日常生活にあふれる印刷物。私は、印刷を単なる複製手段としてではなく、創作過程の一部として積極的に活用したいと考えました。
これまでのプロジェクトでは、帰国後に本やzineを制作してきましたが、今回は最初の撮影から最終的な印刷物の完成まで、すべてを札幌で完結させることに挑戦しました。この土地で手に入る方法や素材を使って制作することで、作品をこの場所と深く結びつけたいと考えました。札幌の都市の質感、視覚的なリズム、そしてここで今、制作するという物理的な条件から形づくられた作品です。
During my three-week stay in Sapporo, I have spent my days walking—observing, collecting, and photographing the city’s visual patterns. Though I rarely photograph people, human presence is always there—in the wear of surfaces, in routines made visible, in things arranged and left behind. The cones, in particular, have become stand-ins for people in many of my images.
Coming from Sweden, where printing has become a complicated, specialized process in a highly digitalized society, I’m fascinated by how easily accessible printing remains in Japan—quick-print shops, color printers in convenience stores, and a constant presence of printed matter in everyday life. I wanted to take advantage of this unique infrastructure and work with print not just as a way to reproduce images, but as part of the artistic process itself.
In previous projects, I’ve made books and zines after returning home. This time, I challenged myself to produce everything here—from first photograph to final publication—using the methods and materials available locally. My goal was to create a work that is closely tied to the place where it was made: shaped by its urban textures, visual rhythms, and the material conditions of working here, now.
