・ゲオアグ・トレメル（Georg Tremmel）
ゲオアグ・トレメル（Georg Tremmel）は札幌を拠点に活動するオーストリア出身のアーティスト／リサーチャーです。ウィーン応用美術大学でビジュアルメディアアートを、ロンドンのロイヤル・カレッジ・オブ・アートでインタラクションデザインを学びました。彼の活動は、新しいメディアが持つ自己表現性、特にアートとバイオテクノロジーの交差領域や曖昧さ、不確実性に焦点を当てています。
今回のトークでは、彼が進めている CRISPR 技術で改変されたGABAトマトに関するプロジェクトについて紹介します。彼は野生型（元の）トマトと遺伝子編集されたトマトの違いを明らかにし、その後、編集によって失われたDNA配列を改変トマトに再挿入することを計画しています。これにより、元のトマトと同じ遺伝型を持ちながら、法的には遺伝子組換え植物とみなされるトマトを作り出すことを目指しています。
「Delta Gardens」は、“Atoms for Peace（平和のための原子力）”に端を発する原子力園芸実験を再演・再解釈するプロジェクトで、植物に突然変異を起こすためにガンマ線を用いるものです。さっぽろ天神山アートスタジオでのレジデンス期間中、ジョージはウランガラスを動力源とする放射線照射装置の3Dプリントと試作に取り組みます。
「PCT-15 Data/Noise Transformations」は、1980年代の電話回線を利用したイメージ通信プロトコルを調査・復活させ、画像と音の間に生じるデータ／ノイズ変換を創造的手法として探求する進行中の作品です。
Georg Tremmel is an Austrian Artist & Researcher based in Sapporo, he studied Visual Media Art at the University of Applied Arts in Vienna and Interaction Design at the Royal College of Art in London, UK. Georg’s work is focused on the self-expressiveness of emerging media, especially the intersections, gray areas and uncertainties between Art & Biotechnology. Georg will talk about his ongoing work with CRISPR-modified GABA tomatoes, in which he plans find out the differences between the wild-type tomato and the gene-edited one. He plans to subsequently re-insert the missing DNA sequence into the modified tomato, thus creating a legally genetically modified plant that has the genotype of the original tomato. ‘Delta Gardens’ is an ongoing re-enactment and re-performance of the ‘Atoms for Peace’ initiated Atomic Gardening experiments, where gamma radiation is used to induce mutations in plants. During his residency at the Tenjinyama Art Studio, Georg will work on 3D printing and prototyping the Uranium Glass powered radiation device. ‘PCT-15 Data/Noise Transformations’ is a work-in-progress that investigates and revives a dead, telephone-based image communication protocol from the 1980ies and uses it as a creative method to construct data/noise tranformations between image & sound.

Doi Kim は、ニューヨークとソウルを拠点に活動する学際的なビジュアルアーティストです。彼女の作品は、感覚と認知の両面からイマジネーションの働きを考察し、想像力と主体性に関わる倫理的・政治的な問いを扱います。版画、絵画、アニメーション、インスタレーションなど多様な媒体を横断しながら、物質的・身体的・心理的・神話的・社会文化的領域を行き来するフィクションを通じて、政治的可能性が再構築されうる思索的な空間をつくり出します。
Kim は、スクール・オブ・ビジュアルアーツ（ニューヨーク、米国）で美術の MFA を、韓国芸術総合学校（ソウル、韓国）で美術の BFA を取得しました。2017 年には交換留学制度を通じて、プラハ美術アカデミー（チェコ・プラハ）で 1 年間版画を学びました。彼女は 2024 年 NYFA IAP のメンティーであり、2022 年 Tripvill International Film Festival にて Outstanding Achievement Award を受賞しています。また、2022 年にはソウル文化財団の Re:search 助成金を受け、かつては Society of American Graphic Artists（SAGA）、および Boston Printmakers のメンバーでもありました。
Sapporo Tenjinyama Art Studio でのアーティスト・トークでは、これまでの制作の歩みと近年のプロジェクトを紹介します。
Doi Kim is an interdisciplinary visual artist based between New York City and Seoul. Her work explores the operations of imagination as both a sensorial and cognitive construct, and delves into ethical and political stakes of imagination and subjectivity. Drawing on diverse references and working across printmaking, painting, animation, and installation, she creates speculative spaces through fictional narratives that traverse material, corporeal, psychological, mythical, and socio-cultural dimensions—sites where meaning and political possibility are negotiated or re-envisioned.
Kim holds an MFA in Fine Arts from the School of Visual Arts (New York, NY, USA) and a BFA in Fine Arts from the Korea National University of Arts (Seoul, South Korea). In 2017, she studied printmaking at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague (Prague, Czech Republic) for one year through an exchange program. She is a 2024 NYFA IAP mentee and recipient of the Outstanding Achievement Award at the 2022 Tripvill International Film Festival. She was also awarded a Re:search grant from the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture in 2022 and was a member of the Society of American Graphic Artists (SAGA) and Boston Printmakers.
For her artist talk at Sapporo Tenjinyama Art Studio, she will share her artistic trajectory and introduce recent projects.
私は版画、絵画、アニメーション、インスタレーションで表現された架空の生物と鑑賞者の相互作用を通じて、思索的な生態系を構築する。これらの生態系は、物質的想像力と現代社会における知覚と生存の複雑な層を探究する場へ鑑賞者を招き入れる。
人間・植物・動物の解剖学的特徴や生物学的特性に基づいて構想されたこの想像上の生態系は、身体的・心理的・知覚的体験、あるいは身体化された体験——しばしば潜在意識に埋め込まれ現代環境によって形作られるもの——を視覚的に探究する。私の作品は移住という個人的経験に加え、解剖学・植物学・生物学・文学理論・社会学・現象学など多様で特異な源泉から着想を得ている。私が創り出すイメージは、移行状態にある人々の心理的風景を映し出している。
『ランドスケープ』シリーズでは、必然的な滅亡へと向かう世界で進化する架空の生物を描いた一連のエッチング作品を通じ、身体的自我（「私」）と世界との関係を比喩的に探求している。このエッチングシリーズは、適応と生存のために絶え間ない変容を遂げる存在を描くことで、身体・精神・知覚の相互関係を探求する。
この概念を発展させ、私の創作活動の一環では個人と集団のアイデンティティの形成と緊張関係を探求しています。『第五の子』はエピジェネティクス研究に着想を得て、母胎内で世代間トラウマの影響を受ける胎児を想像した作品です。『プロジェクト・パールズ』は社会における包含と排除の微妙な均衡を通じてアイデンティティを検証します。
多様な国々や文化的文脈での生活経験に基づき、私は移り変わる社会的・実存的状況の中で私たちが如何に認識し、如何に生き延びるかを反映し、問い直し、再構想する思索的な世界を創出する。現代の身体的・感情的・心理的体験を形作る不可視の力を探究したいという欲求に駆られ、私の探求は存在論的倫理の問題にまで及び、私の視覚言語はこれらの思想が明らかにされ解剖される枠組みとして機能する。（ホームページより）
