影や光をとらえた写真や絵画を、

韓国の伝統芸術「チョガッポ」として新たに解釈した作品を発表します。

仕事をしていると、思いがけない端切れや断片がどんどん出てくる。これらの切れ端の有用性について考えているうちに、私は韓国の伝統芸術であるチョガッポを思い浮かべるようになった。生活の中で、私たちはふつう、良い部分を選び出し、残りのものはその価値を失うままになってしまうが、これらの残骸がつながることで、新たな意味が生まれる。

今回のパッチワーク・プロジェクトでは、影と光に焦点を当てた写真とドローイングを使用した。光を捉えることが目的なので、光を通す薄い布や紙を主に使い、「パッチ・ライト 」と名付けた。無限に生成される断片のための場所を作るために、作品は終わりなく続く。

As I work, unexpected scraps and fragments overflow. While pondering the usefulness of these scraps, I came to think of jogakbo, a traditional Korean art. In our lives, we usually pick out the good parts, leaving the rest to lose their original value, but when these remnants are connected, they generate new meaning. In this patchwork project, I used photos and drawings focused on shadows and light. Since I aimed to capture light, I primarily used thin fabric or paper that allows light to pass through and titled it “patch light.” The work continues without end to make room for the endlessly generated fragments.
