シネイド・オドネルはパフォーマンス、インスタレーション、サイト・アート、タイムベース・アートを手がける。アルスター大学で彫刻を、ダブリンでテキスタイルを、ダーティントン・カレッジ・オブ・アーツでビジュアル・パフォーマンスとタイムベース・プラクティスを学ぶ。2012年ロンドン・フェスティバルの一環として、「CAUTION」と題された「アンリミテッド」コミッションのリード・アーティスト兼キュレーターを務める。現在、北アイルランドのベルファストにあるFlax Arts Studiosのアーティストで、2017年に北アイルランド芸術評議会の主要賞を受賞。

彼女の作品は、領土や領土的なものとの出会いを通して、アイデンティティ、国境、障壁を探求している。メディウムと規律、タイミングと自発性、直感と方法論、アーティストと観客の間の複雑さ、矛盾、共通性を示す行動や状況を設定する。写真、ビデオ、テキスト、コラージュなどを用いてパフォーマンスを記録する。

彼女はしばしば自分の身体を使って、自分自身と文化的な境界線、特に女性に課せられた制限との関連について調査する。感情を揺さぶる描写を意図的に避けているにもかかわらず、彼女の作品はしばしば強い反応と感情を引き起こす。

シネイドの活動はノマド的で、旅は彼女の文化的認識を広げ、時間と空間に関する芸術的感性に影響を与えた。ベルファストのパフォーマンス・アート・シーンでは、地元の組織と協力してパフォーマンス・アートの活動を促進し、コミュニティの新進アーティストを支援するなど、積極的に活動している。北アイルランドとカナダ、チリ、クロアチア、ドイツ、グアテマラ、ドミニカ共和国、日本、イラク、モントリオール、ペルー、トランシルバニア地方、ルーマニア、スコットランド、セルビア、シンガポール、タイ、ポーランド、ペルー、モントリオール、アメリカとの間で、アーティストのキュレーション、交流、プロジェクト、パフォーマンスの展覧会を行っている。

Sinéad O’Donnell works in performance, installation, site and time-based art. Based in Belfast, Sinéad studied sculpture at the University of Ulster, textiles in Dublin and visual performance and time-based practices at Dartington College of Arts. She was lead artist and curator for an ‘Unlimited’ commission entitled CAUTION as part of the London 2012 Festival. She is currently a Flax Arts Studios artist, Belfast, Northern Ireland receiving the Arts Council of Northern Ireland Major award in 2017.

Her work explores identity, borders and barriers through encounters with territory and the territorial. She sets up actions or situations that demonstrate complexities, contradictions or commonality between medium and discipline, timing and spontaneity, intuition and methodology, artist and audience. She uses photography, video, text and collage to record her performances.

She often uses her body to investigate both her own and cultural boundaries, particularly in relation to the restrictions placed on women. Despite deliberately avoiding the sensationalisation of the body, her works often promote strong reactions and emotions.

Sinéad’s practice is nomadic and travel has broadened her cultural perceptions and influenced her artistic sensibilities regarding time and space. She is active on the Belfast performance art scene working with local organisations to foster performance art activity and supporting emerging artists in her community. Curating artists, exchanges, projects and exhibitions of performance between Northern Ireland and Canada, Chile, Croatia, Germany, Guatemala, Dominican Republic, Japan, Iraq, Montreal, Peru, Transylvania region Romania, Scotland, Serbia, Singapore, Thailand, Poland, Peru, Montreal and U.S.A.
