阿寒や平取、白老など北海道各地でのアイヌの取材をまとめた内容となっています。

カラスのしなやかさ

北海道は、森、火山、湖、荒々しい海岸を持つ、冬の美しさを備えた広大な土地である。前に日本が植民地化する以前には、アイヌ民族が住んでいた。
1世紀半にわたる同化政策と差別政策の後、国内の状況は少しづつ変化している。今日のこの民族のアイデンティティはどうなっているのだろうか。妥協と主張の狭
間で、現在、アイヌであることは何を意味するのだろうか?　アイヌ文化は、博物館だけに属するものではなく、人々のしなやかさのおかげで生きており、強いアイデンティティを持っています。少数民族の文化は、グローバル化した地球において、ある種の豊かさをもたらす多様性のベクトルである。
今の時代、私たちは皆、自分のアイデンティティを模索しているのではないでしょうか？

The Resilience of the Raven

Hokkaido is a vast land of winter beauty with forests, volcanoes, lakes, and rugged coasts. Before Japanese colonization, it was inhabited by the Ainu people.
After a century and a half of assimilation and discrimination, the situation in the country has changed little by little. What is the identity of this ethnic group today? Between compromise and assertion, what does it mean to be Ainu today? The Ainu culture does not belong only to museums : thanks to the resilience of its people, it is
alive and is a strong identity. Minority cultures are a vector of a diversity that brings a certain form of richness in our globalized planet. Beside, in this day and age, aren’t we all searching for our identity?

Making this work on the Ainu made me realize that, as a French person, the history of colonization and the relationship with the first peoples in Japan brought me back to the reality of my own country. In French Polynesia, Guyana, Martinique, Reunion, New Caledonia: the history of the peoples of the French overseas territories is similar to that of the Ainu. My next project will make the links between these histories and realities.

ロレーヌ・トゥルシー (Lorraine Turci)、フランス人写真家、長期的なプロジェクトを抱えている傍ら、プレスや関連機関とのコラボを定期的に行っています。ナント美術学校とパリ第8大学を卒業。彼女の作品は、領土、アイデンティティ、自然、人権、伝えること、記憶など、人間と環境の複雑な関係を広く記録しています。外見や社会的条件、偏見を超えることで、世界の複雑さを示し、その現実に触れています。彼女の作品は、Visa pour l’Image、モントリオールNuitBlanche、ヨーロッパ写真月間、ノルウェーNordic Lightフェスティバル、ワルシャワ写真デーなど、フランス国内外のフェスティバルで展示されています。2022年、フランス文化省およびフランス国立図書館の写真コミッション取得。

 

 

Lorraine Turci leads long term projects while regularly collaborating with the press and institutions. She is graduated from the Fine-Arts School of Nantes and from the Paris 8 University. Her work documents the complex relationships between human beings and their environment in a broad sense: territory, identity, nature, human rights,
transmission and memory. By going beyond appearances, social conditioning and prejudices, it shows the complexity of the world and touches its reality. Her work has been exhibited in several festivals in France and abroad, as Visa pour l’Image, the Montreal Nuit Blanche, the European Month of Photo, the Norway Nordic Light festival, and Warsaw Photo Days, etc. In 2022, it won a photographic commission from the French Ministry of Culture and the French National Library.
