7月15日より25日までの10日間、天神山アートスタジオを活動の拠点に市内、道内でのリサーチを行っているアーティスト/ Chikako Watanabe 渡部睦子、Cindy Moormanとキュレーター/ Irina Leiferで編成されるチーム「New Land on the Old Ground」によるトークイベントを開催します。

Chikako Watanabe 渡部睦子は、日本でも紹介され活躍するオランダを活動拠点とするアーティストですが、全員が北海道は初来訪。CindyとIrinaは初来日でもあります。在日オランダ大使館の公募で選ばれ、モンドリアン財団のサポートも得て、今回の北海道でのリサーチが実現しました。Irinaのキュレーションで集ったメンバーは、すでにロシアでリサーチを実施、コロナ禍で数年間実現できなかった「北」への旅となりました。

ふだんは、個別に活動している3名のコレクティブはどのような作用を生むのでしょうか？北海道、札幌でなにを思い、なにを見つけたのでしょうか？このトークイベントでは、それぞれの個別の活動の紹介と、プロジェクトの主旨、リサーチの所感を語ります。

For 10 days from 15 to 25 July, Tenjinyama Art Studio will be the base for the team ‘New Land on the Old Ground’, consisting of artists/ Chikako Watanabe, Cindy Moorman and curator/ Irina Leifer, who conduct research in the city and the province. The talk event will be held by the team ‘New Town on the Old Ground’.Chikako Watanabe is a Japanese/Dutch artist based in the Netherlands who has been introduced in Japan, but this is the first visit to Hokkaido for all of them, as well as the first visit to Japan for Cindy and Irina. The members, curated by Irina, had already conducted research in Russia, and the Corona Disaster made this a trip ‘north’ that had not been possible for several years.

How will the three members of the collective, who normally work separately, work together? What did they think and find in Sapporo, Hokkaido? In this talk event, they will introduce their individual activities, discuss the main aims of the project and their impressions of the research.
